“Castellum” in Trenčianske Teplice boasts a new facade

The Trenčianske Teplice Spa Mansion got a new look. In the immediate vicinity of rare thermal springs, it was built around 1740 according to Italian Renaissance designs by Count Jozef Illesházy, who at that time partly used it himself and partly lent it to spa guests.

Even today, after approximately 280 years, the historic building serves spa guests, as the complex of its buildings hides pools with healing thermal water, areas for providing spa treatments, and the administrative headquarters of the Spa.

Thanks to financial support from the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, the Trenčianske Teplice Spa has managed to reconstruct the facade of the building on the Spa Square side over the past two years. The original “Castellum” boasts a renovated exterior that, on the one hand, corresponds to modern times, but on the other hand, fully respects and preserves its historical elements.

“We realize that in addition to the daily care of our swimming pools, spa facilities and accommodation facilities, the exteriors of our buildings also require care. We are pleased that after renewing the facade of the SINA building, we have now successfully managed to renew the facade of the Manor House in the part facing the pedestrian zone. I believe that our visitors will also appreciate its current appearance, and not only during the Spas in the Region event. In the coming year, we would like to continue renewing another part of the facade, but everything will depend on our financial capabilities. The year 2019 will once again bring new financially demanding challenges to business entities,” said Michal Vojtáš, general director of the Spa.

In 2016, the Trenčianske Teplice Spa completely replaced the roof covering of this historic landmark of the Spa Square, and last year, the shop windows of the individual shops on the ground floor of the Manor House also underwent significant renovation.
