The dominant feature of Trenčianske Teplice will soon be a thing of the past
The company Kúpele Trenčianske Teplice, a.s. will begin the gradual removal of an 80m high chimney in the wider center of Trenčianske Teplice on October 25, 2023.
The reinforced concrete chimney was built between 1965 and 1968 in the area of the former farmyard of the local Spa. In the past, it served in their thermal management to discharge flue gases from boiler units, which originally burned solid fuel and later natural gas. However, due to the successfully completed decentralization of the thermal management of the Spa in 2016, it no longer fulfills its function. Despite its still good technical condition, it is a dubious asset, the later rehabilitation of which would only mean higher financial costs compared to the present.
The demolition work and disposal of waste, which does not pose any ecological risk, will be carried out by a professionally qualified company without the use of explosives. The work will be carried out up to a height of approx. 25m by gradual manual and subsequent – from the ground – mechanical dismantling, and their duration is estimated at approximately 90 days, depending on weather conditions.
Removing the chimney will contribute to increasing the attractiveness of the land by removing the burden that currently limits its future use, as well as to a significantly changed and undeniably more beautiful visual appearance of the spa town.
